Cost of college went up for all students at Texas A & M University-Commerce

In-state tuition and fees rose 3.7 percent for 2018-19 at Texas A & M University-Commerce, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Texas residents paid $8,748 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $314 more than the $8,434 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 142.3 percent more than residents this year, or $21,198. Their price tag grew 1.5 percent from $20,884 in 2017-18.

About 98 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Texas residents. And about 2 percent are residents of other states.

Data shows 93 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 777 students received grants or scholarships totaling $7.5 million and 637 students took out student loans totaling more than $3.6 million.

Including all undergraduates (12,411), 5,917 students used grants or scholarships totaling $41.7 million, and 4,353 students took out $31.2 million in federal student loans.
