2,126 students enrolled in Somervell County schools during 2023-24 school year

There were 2,126 students enrolled in Somervell County schools in the 2023-24 school year, 1.3% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

At the time, Somervell County had the 97th lowest enrollment in the state.

Data also showed that white students made up 66.9% of the student body, the largest percentage in Somervell County schools, followed by Hispanic students at 28.2%, Asian students at 0.8%, American Indian students at 0.6%, Black students at 0.6%, Pacific Islander students at 0.1% and multiracial students at 2.8%.

A recent study by WalletHub classified Texas as one of the least-educated states in the U.S., ranking it 41st out of 50 in educational quality and student outcomes.
