Lone Oak ISD schools Education: 5 American Indian students were enrolled in schools in 2022-23 school year

There were five American Indian students enrolled in Lone Oak ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 28.6% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Lone Oak ISD schools welcomed 1,083 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, American Indian students comprised 0.5% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

Lone Oak ISD roughly covers schools within Hunt County and has a main office in Lone Oak.

Among the three schools in Lone Oak ISD schools, Lone Oak Middle School recorded the highest enrollment of American Indian students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of two students.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
