There were 519 students enrolled in Celeste ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 7% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 53.8% of them were boys, and 46.2% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were white, representing 69.9% of the Celeste ISD total enrollment.

Celeste ISD roughly covers schools within Hunt County with its main office in Celeste.

Among the three schools in Celeste ISD, Celeste Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 254 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
