The Granbury Chamber of Commerce has made a sizeable donation to the Granbury ISD F1 in Schools program.
The $5,000 donation will help to support the F1 teams at the school. The program competed in international contests in recent years including in Abu Dhabi, UAE; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; and Austin.
The Chamber of Commerce has supported the F1 program at the school for years, with donations totaling $30,000. The funds are mostly used to help the team travel to various contests.
“As Granbury Chamber of Commerce president, Mike Scott has been an incredible advocate for Granbury ISD," Dr. Jeremy Glenn, GISD superintendent, said. "He has volunteered for bond, facility, and strategic planning committees and has always served in other roles without hesitation. Mike has championed our career and technical education program and helped develop that part of GISD education into the success it is today. We cannot thank Mike enough for his service to the community – and most importantly to GISD schoolchildren.”
F1 is becoming increasingly important as schools place increased emphasis on STEM programs and learning.
