It is approaching the one-year mark since the October 7, 2023, attack on Israel. Governor Greg Abbott has announced a moment of silence at 7:00 AM on Monday to remember what he described as "the deadliest day for Jews since the Holocaust."

On that day, approximately 3,000 Hamas militants entered Israel by land, air, and sea. Nearly 1,200 civilians were killed and over 200 hostages taken.

In response to the attack, Texas acted quickly. Both legislative chambers passed resolutions supporting Israel's right to defend itself. The Texas Senate resolution was authored by a state official who emphasized Texas' solidarity with Israel and addressed rising antisemitism in various communities.

The attack left lasting impacts on families in Israel. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu commented earlier this year about the ongoing grief and loss experienced by many. A notable account came from a teenager who led her brother to safety after losing family members during the incident.

Following the attack, Israel launched an offensive in Gaza against Hamas and aimed to rescue hostages. Recent developments include the elimination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah by Israeli forces and Iran's missile launch towards Israel.

This event serves as a reminder of ongoing conflicts in the region and highlights continued support for Israel as it seeks security and peace.
