The U.S. Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration (EDA) is considering a request for Federal assistance from the City of Greenville to construct a Majors Field Capital Improvements project in Greenville, Hunt County, Texas. Pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), EDA is conducting an assessment of the potential of the proposed project to affect the environment and/or historic properties. Notice is hereby given that the project is proposed to be located in, or may affect, a floodplain and/or wetland as defined by Executive Order (EO) 11988 and/or EO 11990
The Project would construct a new roadway alignment for the existing Majors Road at Greenville Municipal Airport – Majors Field. The new road would be constructed on new location approximately 1,200 feet south of the existing Majors Road and would be bordered on the west by FM 2101, which ties into the existing Majors Road on the east. The total length of new four-lane, undivided, concrete roadway would be approximately 2,000 feet. A new sanitary sewer main and water main would be installed along the roadway. Provisions would be made for future developments to connect to this infrastructure without damaging the roadway. The sanitary sewer improvements would be approximately 3,500 feet long and the water main would be approximately 4,200 feet long. Roadway lighting would be designed based on photometric calculations to determine pole locations and avoidance of any light pollution for airport operations. Drainage improvements would take place to avoid environmental impacts and allow future expansion to take place with little effect to surrounding areas. Project information is available for review at the City of Greenville, 2821 Washington Street, Greenville, TX 75403, (903) 457-3100.
If you have any information regarding potential impacts to historic properties or environmental resources including wetlands or floodplains associated with this proposed project, please provide it in writing to:
