City of Weatherford issued the following announcement on Oct. 24.
We have been told that many utility customers are receiving calls that they have to pay quickly over the phone or be cut off. The scammers are giving addresses out (not always correct ones) and wanting information over the phone. Please note that Weatherford Utility customers can pay via our secure phone system (IVR), in person, online portal, secure night drop on the side of the building (Davis St) or through the mail.
We do send out reminder calls if you are late but we do not ask or take payments over the phone.
