Parker County incumbents sweep primary elections

WEATHERFORD – The primary election in Parker County saw many incumbents claiming victory over their challengers.

Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler won the Republican primary with 69.6% of the vote, over challengers Darrel Hull with 22.2%, Gregory Gates with 5.2% and Fred Hammons with 2.95%.

In Precinct 3, incumbent Commissioner Larry Walden easily won the Republican primary against Matt Drikas with 78% of the vote.

Precinct 2 Constable Joe Harris, Jr. beat out challenger Ray Riley in the primary with 78.9% of the vote.

Precinct Constable Glen Praytor won the Republican primary with 71.9% of the vote, beating out challenger Brad Chane.

The Congressional race for the 12th District seat held by Rep. Kay Granger (R-Fort Worth) was much closer than the local races. Granger won the primary race against challenger Chris Putnam with 56.4% of the vote. In November, Granger will face Democratic challenger Lisa Welch, who took 80.45% of the vote against Danny Anderson.

The 12th District includes Parker County as well as portions of Wise and Tarrant counties.
