As the year comes to a close, it is a time for reflection, gratitude, and celebration. We gather with loved ones, cherishing the blessings we have received and expressing our thanks to the Lord. In the spirit of Christmas, we extend our warmest wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Reflecting on the past year, I am humbled and honored to have served as your state senator. Taking the oath of office and swearing to fulfill my duties has been a privilege. Serving the people has always been my utmost priority, and I am grateful for the trust you have placed in me.
Recently, I had the opportunity to address the Johnson County Republican Women, where I discussed the legislative sessions and the progress we have made. I highlighted significant accomplishments, including increased funding for border security, property tax relief, and measures to protect our children. We also prioritized the reliability of the electric grid and invested in school funding and water infrastructure.
During this event, I had the pleasure of meeting with familiar faces, such as former Johnson County Sheriff Bob Alford and other friends and supporters. Their presence and support are invaluable, and I am grateful for their continued dedication to our community.
In other news, I would like to congratulate Bob McKinley, the athletic director and women's basketball coach at Weatherford College, for reaching an impressive milestone. McKinley has achieved 1,000 victories in his coaching career, making him one of only five coaches in the history of the National Junior College Athletic Association to accomplish this feat. His dedication and hard work have earned him a place in the NJCAA Women's Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame.
Turning our attention to the sports arena, I am thrilled to announce that Senate District 10 boasts three high schools that have emerged as football state champions. The Aledo Bearcats secured the 5A Division 1 Title, adding to their impressive record of 12 state championships. In Shackelford County, the Albany Lions triumphed over the Mart Panthers to claim the title for 2A Division 2. Lastly, the Gordon Longhorns of Palo Pinto County emerged victorious in the 1A Division 1 category, defeating the Westbrook Wildcats. These achievements exemplify the rich tradition of football in Texas and highlight the talent and dedication of these communities and their schools.
To honor these outstanding teams, my office has prepared Senate Resolutions recognizing their accomplishments. We are eager to present these resolutions as a testament to their hard work and success.
As we conclude this year, let us not forget the true meaning of Christmas. It is a time of joy, love, and giving. Let us cherish the moments spent with family and friends, and let us remember the blessings we have received throughout the year.
Merry Christmas to all, and may the coming year be filled with hope, happiness, and continued success.
