Avir at Weatherford ranked 3rd largest nursing facility in Parker County for Q1

During the first quarter of 2026, Avir at Weatherford was identified as the third largest nursing home in Parker County, data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) shows.

Records indicate that the facility had 122 beds available, exceeding Parker County’s quarterly average by 12. On average, 74.3 residents were served in the same time frame.

The CMS assigned an overall rating of 1 out of 5 to Avir at Weatherford, falling short of the 2.7 average for Texas nursing homes.

Hilltop Park Rehabilitation and Care Center had the highest capacity within Parker County for the quarter, with 132 beds, while Willow Park Rehabilitation and Care Center followed with 125 beds.

As of the first quarter of 2026, Avir at Weatherford incurred $34,394 in fines across two incidents and faced two penalties.

Parker County, Texas, had a total of nine for-profit nursing homes.

The U.S. Census Bureau estimates that older adults make up a growing share of the population while younger groups decline. Between 2020 and 2024, the population age 65 or older went up 13%, as those under 18 declined by 1.7%. The older adult population in the U.S. has seen significant growth in the past 100 years, climbing from 4.9 million in 1920 to over 61 million in 2024.

A study released in 2021 reports that nearly half of this age group, or about 28 million people, could need long-term care and support. The report also indicates that more than one-third might require nursing home care at some point.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance, noting that longer life increases the likelihood of needing extensive care, though choices for such care remain limited.
